Detroit Fashion Schools & Programs Detroit's students have a variety of design and merchandising programs available to them. At the International Academy of Design and Technology one can pursue fashion design. At Wayne State University programs in fashion design and merchandising are also offered.

According to Michigan's Office of Labor Market Information, merchandisers are forecasted for 20.3% growth through 2012. While the department does not provide specific predictions for fashion designers, designers overall are expected too see increases of 16%. Merchandising, planning, and buying positions are available with area retailers.
